Deceased was filling a tub of dirt in a rock heading crossing the measures, when a piece of rock 7ft long, 4.5ft wide and 1ft thick at centre, tapering out to a feather edge slip around the edges, fell without warning and killed him instantaneously. The contractor had knocked on the roof only a few minutes before the fall and it sounded like a bell.
