April 1927: Ayrshire Pit Accident - William Samson, residing at Midhouse Row, Muirkirk, while working at Kames Pit, Muirkirk, belonging to William Baird & Co, met with a serious accident. As the result of the explosion of a shot, he was very seriously injured about the face. After being attended to by the works doctor, he was removed to the Glasgow Eye Infirmary for further treatment.
