- Details of Event
- Deceased appears to have been sitting on his cracket in a longwall place kirving in the bottom coal of the Beaumont seam which has the following section ramble 2 inches top coal 2 feet 1 inch band 9 inches, and bottom coal 1 foot. The band top coal and ramble overhung for a length of 8 feet and a depth of 2 feet, and this overhanging mass fell on him causing such injuries that he died the same day. The fall came away from an ordinary bordways cleet or facing and a keen parting above the ramble. Sprags should have been set but he appears to have neglected this precaution. The Local Inspectors reported ‘we, the undersigned, think it was a pure accident'.
