- Details of Event
- Deceased was observed by a shunter walking along beside, but well clear of, a set of fifteen trucks which were standing on a slight incline of 1 in 54. Five other empties were allowed to gravitate down a portion of road inclined at 1 in 69 in the opposite direction. The impact was sufficient to cause the stationary trucks to move a distance equal to the length of one truck against the inclination. While they were in motion a truck near the top end was noticed to jump on the metals. On investigation it was found that deceased had been run over. He was able to crawl from between the trucks but expired in a few minutes. He had received severe injuries to the groin, a knife which he had in his pocket having been pressed into the femoral artery with such force that it completely severed the artery.
