Twenty minutes before the end of his shift he left his working place, said for some unknown reason got on top of a horse which carried a horizontal driving shaft, 1.5 inches in diameter, over some slimes tables. His clothes were caught by the shafting, which was making 20 revolutions per minute, and coiled round it, and he was killed. Under no circumstances in carrying out his duties had he any occasion to go on or near the "horse." No one witnessed the accident.
