- Details of Event
- Low girders were being taken out and stone down to make height on a driving road and the girders re-set. He and another man had got a girder out and were removing the props which had supported it when a fall of stone occurred and swamped another girder out and killed him. He had a ‘dog and chain’ to draw props but did not use it. If he had done so and set temporary timber to protect himself, the accident in all probability would not have been a fatal one.
