Deceased was engaged in drawing the timber from a newly formed waste in pillar workings in the Cockshead Seam. Having tried unsuccessfully to draw a road bar at the deep side of the waste by means a Sylvester he slackened the chain and proceeded to loosen the bar with a pick. A slight fall occurred, and part of it knocked him down, pinning his legs. Before he could be released, further falls occurred completely burying him. It required 12 hours work to recover the body.
