A well had been sunk a depth of 6 yards from the working seam down to a worked-out seam for the purpose of draining the water away during the winter mouths. Deceased was making an examination at the bottom of the well when a piece of fireclay from side above the top of the well fell and struck him between the shoulders. He died in Broseley Infirmary on October 24th. A careful examination before descending the well would probably have revealed the weak side.
