Inquiry made and inquest attended. Deceased was in the act of getting into the cage at the yard coal mouthing before the return signal had been given from the surface; although the hooker-on stated he told him not to do so. The cage was unexpectedly lowered owing to some misunderstanding in the signals and he fell down the shaft a distance of 120 yards and was killed.
