He was standing on a staging applying resin to one of the pulley wheels, to prevent the belt slipping, while it was in motion, when his hand was caught by the belt, and carried on to the revolving wheel, and he was thrown on to the jigging screen close to the oscillating motion of the screen caused him to pass under a beam 8.5 inches above it with the result that his spine was fractured and he was internally injured. He died on the 14th.
