15 June 1931: Man Killed On The Railway - While engaged in shunting operations at Whitrigg Colliery, East Whitburn, yesterday afternoon, Donald Ross (31), an unmarried goods guard, who resided at Belleville, Bridgend, Bathgate, was run over by a mineral train. He sustained severe injuries, to which he succumbed about 20 minutes after the accident occurred. [Scotsman 16 June 1931]
