- Caught in fan. The death took place in an Edinburgh hospital on Thursday of Thomas Rodger, Electrician, 27 Bandeath Road, Fallin, who, the previous Saturday (4 April 1942) was seriously injured while at work in Polmaise Colliery, Fallin. Rodger, who was well known in local dramatic circles, was removing a cover from a wooden box containing an electric motor, when his clothing was caught in the revolving shaft. He received severe shock and spinal concussion and was removed to Stirling Royal Infirmary. Later he was rushed to a hospital in Edinburgh, but despite treatment, succumbed to his injuries.
