On-going up to the face of his working place after being out for some time his naked light ignited firedamp. There was it feeder of gas and the ventilation was insufficient to keep it from accumulating as it had to be "wafted" out with a piece of screen cloth. Safety lamps ought to have been used. The under-manager entered this place the following day with a naked light and caused another explosion which injured him also.
