- Details of Event
- Inquest attended. The deceased had charged a shot hole in the coal with ordinary gunpowder and stemmed it after which the deputy gave him a piece of touch paper lighted by means of a heated wire. The deputy then left the deceased who was found lying 8 feet from the shot hole and had been killed by the coals projected by the shot. Probably he had nipped off the end of the squib too close. The deceased should have fired the shot himself.
