Died from the result of injuries received at the bottom of an upcast shaft at which iron doors actuated by the cages are in use. The bottom deck of the cage had been loaded with two in full tubs, and as it was being kirved in order that the top deck might be loaded, the deceased noticed the sneck was not properly holding the tubs in the bottom deck. While the cage was in motion he attempted to kick the sneck into position with his foot, but unfortunately the middle hoop of the cage caught his foot causing injuries from which he died eight days after.
