- 30 August 1930: Fatal Fall Down Shaft - About midday on Saturday William Robertson (21), who resided at Eastmuir, Shettleston, fell from the main coal section down the shaft in No.3 Shettleston Colliery, Baillieston, a distance of about 300 feet. Robertson was instantly killed. As a mark of respect, miners employed in the pit, which is owned by the Mount Vernon Coal Company, ceased work for the remainder of the day.
