Inspection made and inquest attended. Deceased was working with others on a bricking scaffold attached to the winding rope. The brake was not sufficiently powerful enough to keep the scaffold in one position and the engineman had to keep the steam on in aid of his brake when suddenly the steam overcame the brake and the scaffold was jerked up a few feet which caused the deceased to fall over the side to the bottom of the pit which contained seven yards of water and he was drowned before he could be rescued.
