Explosion of firedamp at a naked light. They were engaged walling a staple pit from the new vein to the lower seams and had got to within about four yards from the top. Gas accumulated under the scaffolding owing to no provision haying been made for ventilation and ignited at the naked lights which they were using. 2 killed.
