- Details of Event
- He was between two rows of props in a seam 2 feet thick, and was about to stow some ripping dirt, when a piece of ironstone roof, 13 feet long, 4 feet wide and 1 foot 6 metres thick, weighing several tons, fell killing him instantly. Only two props were displaced, most of the fall extending back into the goaf. The deputy had inspected the place two and a half hours before and found all safe.
