- 17 September 1929: The death has taken place in Stirling Royal Infirmary of Thomas Boyd (49), pit-drawer, East Plean, as a result of an accident in No.4 Pit, Bannockburn colliery, East Plean, on Tuesday afternoon. Boyd was engaged lifting an empty hutch on to the rails, and failed to observe the approach of a loaded hutch, with the result that he was struck on the head. [Scotsman 20 September 1929]
