A small quantity of gunpowder they put into a shot-hole was ignited, probably by a smouldering fuse remaining from a previous charge, and it set fire to close upon 100lbs. in a keg within 2 feet of the hole. Hughes was instantly killed and the other two died of shock on the morrow. 3 killed.
