- 26 May 1920: Pit Fatality - While at work in No 1 Pit, Brigghills Colliery, James Robb, nightshift fireman, residing at 14 Minto Cottages, Cardenden, was buried by the fall of a large stone weighing 2 1/2 tons, from the roof. When extricated it was found that he had been killed instantaneously. Deceased who was highly respected among his fellow workers, was organist of the Episcopal Church, Lumphinnans.
