- Details of Event
- On Saturday afternoon he was employed looking after an underground pump and allowed it to stand too long whilst he remained on the surface. The water rose and flooded the usual road to the pump so that he had to go down to the sinking shaft in a hoppit. When ready to return a fuse on the main circuit to the electrical winding engine blew, and the engineman went to repair it without, apparently, properly putting down his brake, as the drum slipped and allowed the hoppit to drop into the water, and deceased was drowned.
