- He went into a place with the putter to help to bring a full tub away. He stood on one side of the road, a few yards on the out-bye side of the tub. The putter lifted the tub away but when it got on to the second length of plates it stopped. The putter asked the hewer to help him pull the tub back but the hewer instead went past the side of the tub and then saw the boy lying on his back with one leg beneath the tub and the other by the side of the way the was bleeding from the temple and the back of his head. Either he had been pulling at the out-bye end of the tub and had fallen down, or the bad been knocked down by the tub. His skull was fractured and he died when being carried out of the mine.
