He was cleaning the engine plane when a piece of stone fell from the roof and caused such injuries that he died at the Beckett Hospital, when under-going an operation, the following day. The stone measured 4ft. by 4ft. by 2.5ins. in thickness and fell away at a slip next to the coal side.
