5 April 1920: Lesmahagow – Fatal Accident – A sad accident occurred at Bellfield Colliery early on Monday morning whereby James Richardson, who resided at Springbank, lost his life. No person witnessed the accident but it appears that he had been run down by a train of loaded hutches which were on their way to the bottom as he was proceeding to his working place.
