- Details of Event
- Fall of roof in his working place. The stone, which was reek, appears to have dropped out suddenly from smooth slips as he was sitting down having a whiff or rest. Although the clod at the place was down to the rock, did not consider there was sufficient timber set to make the place reasonably safe. The maximum distance apart for timbers under rock roof was 15 feet, a distance which, in my opinion, is not reasonable, although argued by many mining engineers and managers to be ample in certain mines.
