The locomotive was engaged moving some rubbish waggons, the buffers of which came inside the buffers of the engine. Deceased was standing on the step or the engine putting sand on the rails and in some manner got his hand between the buffers of the rubbish truck and the buffers of the loco and it was injured. His hand was making very satisfactory progress and was considered to he nearly well, butt he died suddenly in his house at 11pm. on Saturday night the 28th Dec. from advanced heart disease according to the post mortem, the doctor states accelerated by the accident. This is a case which before the Compensation Act would not have been brought under notice as being connected with his work.
