- Details of Event
- At the time of the accident these two men were cleaning one of the drums of a Stirling boiler when one of the tubes in an adjoining boiler, which was under steam, drew out and allowed an escape of steam and water to rush out on to the fire, and the access door, nearly opposite to the drum in which these men were, was blown open owing to the handle on which the neck fastening the door was fixed, breaking. This caused steam to come out into the passage way between the two boilers and the men hearing it rushed out and were scalded about the head, face, and arms. Rhodes died on the 30th June and White on July 5th. 2 killed.
