- The roof at the place where this accident occurred was full of slips. He was dressing the coal off to enable and set another bar when he exposed one of these slips, and a piece of stone 1 feet 10 inches long by 1 foot 10 inches wide by 8 inches thick fell and hit his pick causing it to be forced into his forehead. He died the same day.
