- 17 January 1943: Colliery Tragedy - Alexander Rennie (71), colliery fireman, 12 A Block. Fallin, and James Dawson (52), colliery roadman, 12 Woodside Place, Fallin, were knocked down by a runaway hutch in the main haulage road at Fallin Colliery. Rennie received severe head injuries, and Dawson’s left leg was fractured. They were removed to Stirling Royal Infirmary, where Rennie died shortly after admission. Dawson died in the Infirmary yesterday. [Scotsman 18 January 1943]
