- Details of Event
- Deceased was getting off a rate of the "fine coal" from the side of a Thick coal opening at the commencement of his shift. He had only struck two or three blows, to cut it through at the wide end, when it came off suddenly at a slip. Thinking some coal was breaking off the rib behind him, deceased jumped forward, and was caught by the falling rate of coal, and so severely crushed that he died three days later, If he had stood where he was he probably would have been unhurt.
