- Fall of side at face while holing in a bed of coal 7ins in thickness which is under a stratum of clod 2ft thick some clod and coal measuring 6ft in length, 2ft 6ins in width and 2ft thick fell upon him causing a fracture of the spine from the effects of which he died 25th Oct. From a sketch of the face taken shortly before the accident it would seen that the clod under holing was not properly secured by sprags or short props. The manager and fireman cautioned him a few days before the accident occurred to be more careful in securing his coal face. No 2 Rhondda. Naked lights.
