Deceased and a fitter were breaking up the castings of an old Guibal fan. They bored a hole in the outer rim, connecting the arms of the centre wheel and drove a plug in to crack it through. As soon as it cracked half the wheel fell and deceased fell on it, a distance of 16 feet. An old crack was then found around the boss of the wheel, so that when the upper connection was broken the weight of the casting broke the other connection.
