- Deceased was making his way into a district when he was overtaken by an empty journey. The riders at the end of the journey became aware that something was wrong by the trams getting derailed. Deceased was then discovered lying partly across the road, and so fearfully injured that he died in fifteen minutes. In my opinion deceased, seeing the journey going in, got into a manhole, and as it was passing him, attempted to jump on the fifth shackle, but slipped and fell under. The first six trams were on the rails and the remaining seven off. If he had been knocked down by the front tram, the whole of the trams would have been thrown off the rails.
