In moving a tram which he and a youth were filling in a rise heading, the tram being full overpowered him owing to the removal of one or two sprags on a steep part of the road. The youth states that he took one out by Reed’s instructions and a second one was found on the road it is thought hat Reed removed by himself. An error of judgement in removing the sprags on this part of the road, which dipped 3 inches to the yard. His spine and left leg were fractured. He died on 27th October from the effects of the injury.
