- Details of Event
- The deceased was employed in the Clod Coal seam, and while coming outbye behind a loaded tub attached to his horse, a piece of the roof 4 feet by 3 by 10 inches thick reeled out a prop and fell upon him. When discovered he was found to be dead. The prop had been set on a canch at the roadside, apparently it had moved inwards imperceptibly under the superincumbent weight until it came in contact with the passing tub, which probably knocked it out and caused the roof to fall. Two and a half hours previously, the fireman had inspected the roof and sides of the road and found it in safe working order.
