He and another were pulling loose stones down the face of the quarry with long bars, and in doing so they undermined a mass which began to move sooner than they expected. The two men made haste to escape, but deceased was struck on the back of the neck, and fell at the foot of the slope, and a large stone, some 4 or 5 tons in weight, rolled over him and killed him instantly.
