5 December 1924: Fatal Pit Explosion at Mount Vernon - A miner named John Ramsay (29), residing at 941 Shettleston Road, Shettleston, has died in the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, from the effects of burning sustained in an explosion which took place while he was at work in Kenmuirhill colliery, Mount Vernon.
