13 September 1939: A Holytown miner, David Bovell, residing at 135 Main Street, was removed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary yesterday as the result of an accident at his work. Bovell, who is employed as a bogey-runner at No.6 Thankerton Colliery, Holytown, was carrying out his work underground when he was jammed by runaway hutches. [Scotsman 14 September 1939]
