It was his duty to attend to the engine driving the screening machinery. After being missed for some time be was found inside a fence terribly mutilated and round some shafting used for driving the picking belts. His oil can was found near him, and he had evidently been oiling the machinery when it was in motion. Notices were posted up forbidding this practice, and he bad been threatened with dismissal by the engineer a few months previously when caught at this dangerous practice.
