- Details of Event
- Deceased was severely burned on the arms, head and face by an ignition of compressed gunpowder, and succumbed to his injuries on November 22nd. The powder can had been taken from its usual place to a recess in the road, 8 yards from the face, where the men kept their clothes, and it is supposed that deceased and the driver were getting explosive from the can when a spark from a candle ignited it, burning them both. A third man some little distance away was also burned slightly. Schedule 4 of the Explosives in Coal Mines Order was contravened.
