- 9 May 1916: Lumphinnans – Fatal Accident at A Colliery – On Tuesday a fatal accident occurred at No 11 pit, Lumphinnans Colliery, whereby Alexander Pringle, 33, who resided at Gardener's Land, Townhill Road, Dunfermline, met with his death while following the occupation of jigger attendant. No one saw the accident happen but it is presumed that the unfortunate man was dragged in among the machinery while carrying out oiling operations. He leaves a widow and two children.
