- 28 April 1918: Blantyre - Fatal Accident - John Primrose (68), shanksman, 8 Greenfield Old Rows, was fatally injured at the bottom of No 2 Pit, Whistleberry Colliery, on Sunday last. About 7.30 pm deceased was loading hutches of dirt when it is supposed some hutches ran down the slight declivity and pinned him against the cage. When found Primrose was lying on his side about three feet from the hutches. He was taken to the surface and examined by Dr Wilson, Blantyre, who found he had sustained severe internal injuries from which he died about three hours later.
