21 November 1934: Man Electrocuted at Midlothian Pit - While operating a coal-cutting machine in the Woolmet Pit of the Niddrie and Benhar Coal Company (Ltd) during the back shift, late on Wednesday night, James Primrose met his death by electrocution. A companion, observing the accident, rushed to his assistance, only to find that he was dead. Primrose, who was about 33 years of age lived at Danderhall, Millerhill, and leaves a widow and several children. [Scotsman 23 November 1934]
