Deceased was breaking up coal ready for loading into a tub in a Thick Coal working, when, without previous warning, a piece of "batt," 2 cwts., fell from the face, striking him on the back of the head causing a lacerated wound 5 inches long, a fracture of the pelvis and crushing of the chest. Pneumonia supervened, and he died on the 3rd February.
