The deceased was liberating a prop set under the ripping at the way end of his stall, and was using his pick to undercut it when it suddenly flew out and a piece of rock, about 30 cwts in weight, fell upon him, killing him instantly. A proper drawer - ringer and chain - was provided and should have been used to withdraw the prop.
