He was engaged, about 5 yards back from the face, ripping top in his road about 10 inch thick, and was trimming the side to make place for timber, when a large piece of the upper top came down upon him. There seems to have been no sign of smooth joints, before the accident. A general squeeze seems to have been taking place there at the time.
