- Details of Event
- A journey of 30 laden trams was being lowered by a tail rope down a gradient of 1 in 7, when the framing of the sheave broke. The weight of the downgoing journey drew the framing and sheave rapidly along the double parting and killed deceased. The framing was put in twelve months previous to the accident and was examined daily. It must have been subjected to sudden severe strain.
