Details of Event
Poole was fatally injured by a loaded tub of coal which ran amain on a jig (inclination 1 in 10) in the Cockshead. The load was one of two which were being jigged. Some difficulty was experienced in starting the loads, and to assist the start the jigger swayed upon the jig rope and the front load came uncoupled, ran amain and caught deceased at the bottom of the jig.
